Ras
Al Khaimah was once the centre of the states of the southern Gulf. Its
naval fleet was able to range as far as Bombay in India and to the major
trading ports of the East African coast. Clashes with the British Navy led
to its downfall in 1820 and led to the arrival of the British presence in
the area.
Ras Al Khaimah officially became a part of the UAE Federation on October 10th, 1972.
